Parent Involvement

Parents can play many roles in sport: current or former athlete, coach, fan, motivator, role model or critic. A few studies have shown that family members may influence an athlete’s involvement and achievement in sport more than coaches. Parents also are the first and most critical agents at socializing sports.

Registration for ALL Levels of Practice must be done at nevadaelitewrestling.org

Competition Season Assessment Day is held on the 4th Sunday of October each year.

New and Returning Club Wrestler Checklist and Important Info:

Before Any Wrestling:

1. Completed Registration AND Release of Liability online,

2. Purchase USA Wrestling Card (themat.com),

 

Practice Requirement:

-Wrestlers must be ready to warm up  5 minutes before practice,

-Wrestling Shoes and Headgear. Can be purchased online on at Scheels, Dicks Sporting Goods.

-Water Bottle,

- Please go to the bathroom BEFORE practice starts,

-A GOOD ATTITUDE,

-Parents are encouraged to drop the wrestlers off. If you choose to stay,  please be quiet so that the kids can focus on the coaches,

-After practice, immediately shower with Antibacterial body wash or Head and Shoulders,

-We will have regular skin checks. Do not come to practice with skin issues and treat them with a physician immediately,

-Please do not come to practice if you are sick.

Tournaments:

Tournaments for Sierra Wrestling Association will start the second Sunday in December.  Schedules will be given out at practice as we get closer.

Tournament Requirements;

-Registration is done online at trackwrestling.com or War Zone Tournaments WELL RUN TOURNAMENTS – Well Run… Quickly Done… Lots of Fun!

- Cut your nails prior to skin check,

-At tournaments, we warm up as a team 1 hour prior to the tournament start time,

-Wrestlers are required to wear wrestling shoes, headgear and a singlet (singlets can be purchased through the team or online, etc.),

-Again, A GOOD ATTITUDE and a willingness to work hard and be coached is mandatory.

Parents and athletes need to manage their SportsEngine accounts to ensure they get the most out of their Nevada Elite Wrestling experience during each sporting season. ESSENTIAL PARENT HOW-TO'S

Adding an additional guardian

In many instances, more than one parent or guardian needs to be in the loop with a child's sports life. Using the mobile app, you can add additional guardians to an account. Guardians can 1) View games and events 2) RSVP to games and events 3) Send and receive messages to coaches and team members 4) participate in team chat

Adding a Mobile Phone

Once you've created your account, add your mobile phone so you can receive text messages from your team manager or coach.

Enabling Text Messaging

Now that you have your mobile phone on your account, make sure you enable text messaging and any other notifications.

Following a Team on the SportsEngine Mobile App

Are you a family friend, grandparent or fan that wants to follow a specific team on the SportsEngine platform? Here is a quick guide to follow teams on the mobile app.

Forwarding Athlete Messages

Do you need a second parent, other family member or nanny to get messages about schedule changes or game times? Add a second email address to forward all communications.
